Welcome to the Fire
Prevention Bureau!
Ensuring safe buildings plays an important role in saving
life and property. The Fire Prevention Bureau conducts,
oversees, or provides the following services:
- Review drawing plans for new construction and remodeling
projects for proper fire code and life safety concerns.
- Meet with contractors and other municipal departments to
review utility requirements, emergency vehicle access, and
fire protection systems.
- Inspect existing buildings for life safety and fire
hazards (Major violations are re-inspected for correction
and compliance to codes).
- Test new suppression and detection systems
- Witness proper installation and removal of underground
tanks.
- Investigate fires
to determine origin and cause (refer to
Juvenile
Fire Setter assistance if applicable).
- Maintain records of all inspections and investigations.
