The Operations Division consists of the well-trained men
and women, and
their equipment, that will respond to your call for service. Our
service area is approximately 12 square miles with three stations.
We serve all of Countryside, Hodgkins, Indian Head Park, and parts
of Burr Ridge, Willowbrook, unincorporated areas of Cook and DuPage
counties. We respond to incidents on I-55 between
Countyline Rd and 1st Av, and I-294 between the Hinsdale
Oasis and 75th St. We also respond to a small
section of the Des Plaines River.
The firefighters work a 24/48 shift - on for 24
hours and off for 48 hours. There are a minimum of 14
firefighters
on-duty every day, including a minimum of 7 paramedic/firefighters. Many of the firefighters are also part of specialty teams which
include the hazardous materials team and the
technical rescue team,
also known as CART (Combined Agency Response Team).
There is always a member of each respective specialty team on duty
every day.

| Our primary response vehicles are two advanced
life support (ALS) ambulances, two engines, two trucks, and
the Battalion Chief's vehicle. Our engines and trucks have
paramedics on-board with ALS equipment that allow us to treat
patients immediately without having to wait for the ambulance to
arrive. We also maintain a tanker, reserve engine, reserve
ambulance, hazmat squad, technical rescue squad, air-rehab squad,
brush utility vehicle, and two boats - an inflatable and an aluminum
hull. |
