Heart Saver CPR and AED Training

The Pleasantview Fire Protection District offers instruction in CPR (cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).  Knowing how to recognize a potential life-threatening condition and how to respond can mean the difference between life and death.

The Heart Saver AED Course that is taught follows the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines for CPR and foreign body airway obstruction maneuvers for both adults and pediatrics (Infant CPR also available). Instruction for Heart Saver AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) is also included.  The class includes video segments that emphasize hands-on participation, recognition of emergency situations, and demonstration of proper life-saving techniques.  Participants are eligible for AHA certification upon completion of the class.

For those in need of a renewal of their Health Care Provider CPR card, recertification testing is now available on the American Heart Association's website at this link.  After completing the online portion of the recertification, schedule a time at Pleasantview Station 1 for your skills validation portion (Adult, Pediatric, and Infant).  After completing both sections, you will be issued an updated card.  There is a small fee for skills assessment and card renewal which is separate from the online fee.  Call 708-579-2740, ext: 2320 for inquiries.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.  Use of these materials in an educational course does
not  represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association.  Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course material, do not represent income to the Association.
