The Pleasantview Fire Protection District's public education members visit all the schools within our jurisdiction to educate our children on safety related topics.  The program is structured to teach children between the grades of kindergarten through fourth grade.
 

Topic General Overview
The Fireman is Your Friend Educates the children about clothing that firefighters wear so they aren't afraid of them during an emergency.
Stop, Drop, and Roll Educates the children about fire, burns, and what to do if their clothes catch on fire.
Crawl Low Under Smoke Educates the children about smoke and what to do if they are in a room with smoke.
Be a Safe Pedestrian Educates the children about cross-walk safety.
Call "9-1-1" to Report an Emergency Educates the children on how to recognize an emergency from a child's perspective and dialing
9-1-1.
Cool a Burn with Water Educates the children about burns and how to treat them before paramedics arrive.
Matches and Lighters are Tools, not Toys Educates the children about the dangers of playing with matches and lighters.
Use a Home Fire Escape Plan Educates the children about having a home escape plan and practicing EDITH (Exit Drills In The Home).
Conduct a Home Hazard Inspection Educates the children about recognizing hazards in their home.
Practice Holiday Fire Safety Educates the children about potential hazards associated with holidays.
Practice Vehicle Safety Educates the children about vehicle safety including safety belts and airbags.
Be a Happy Latchkey Child Educates the children about safety issues associated with latchkey children.
